…Paul Lebowitz has taken the task of further exposing Francesa while clearly explaining why he’s in that downward spiral.
“When Mike Francesa talks about the Mets, you can almost hear the desperation and crestfallen tone in his voice as he comes to grips with a management team that won’t kowtow to him, nor be affected in any way by his rabble-rousing and bullying.”
Now you can add the Mets to the list of teams/people outside Francesa’s circle of influence that includes the Jets, any ESPN staffer, Bill Parcels, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre and Jenny Sanford.

Ya ever see anyone who isn’t lookin’ at their phone the whole day, in your whole life? Ya ever walk anywhere where people aren’t walking into the walls cause their lookin’ at their phones all day? Everyone looks at their phone. Is their anyone who isn’t looking at their phone, basically? Walk down the street now and see how many people are looking at their phone? Everybody, they’re walking into the street, they’re walking into traffic, they’re looking at their phone. America is looking at it’s phone. That’s basically it. That’s what America is doing, looking at it’s phone.
WFAN’s Mike Francesa admits he doesn’t understand “Tweetah”
Classic, yet totally typical and not at all surprising. Basically, WFAN’s Mike Francesa talks on air about Twitter and gets a tutorial from his producer, and, during it all, I can’t stop laughing. I’m not even sure why, but I can’t stop. Priceless.
The sad thing is, when this ad was probably created, Mike Francesa was the ‘new guy,’ in a new industry, ‘sports talk radio,’ getting ripped by old school newspaper guys who dismissed what he and WFAN were trying to do.
Yet, here we are today, 20 years later, and Francesa is dismissing people like me, other bloggers, people who use Twitter, etc., and basically saying the same thing about new media that people said about him and his industry when he was younger.
If u think I’m gonna take calls on Matt Cerrone, you’re out of your cotton-picking mind.
He was talking to Jerry Manuel and he said “Why wouldn’t you pinch hit for the Manager in that spot?”
Mike is just full of misinformation today (April 29). He claimed Mike Hampton took a ton of Mets money and never produced. If memory serves Hampton only played one year for the Mets, won 15 games and won MVP in the NLCS. Also that team went to the WS.
Then Mike went on to say the Mets drew a little over 3 mill their last season at Shea. uummm they drew over 4 million.
